DELINQUÊNCIA EM LUANDA – O KUDURO COMO MODO DE EXPRESSÃO DA RIVALIDADE ENTRE GANGUES DE RUA DELINQUENCY IN LUANDA - KUDURO AS A WAY OF EXPRESSION OF RIVALITY AMONG STREET GANGS

This is a qualitative and exploratory research. It aimed to understand delinquency based on the rivalry among street gangs expressed in the excerpts of kuduro lyrics as well as to analyze the relationship between delinquency and kuduro and its makers. It had as a theoretical reference the Labeling Theory (Becker, Howard (1977; 2008). For the development of this research, kuduro style lyrics were used as material, with contents that express the context of delinquency in Luanda and the rivalry among street gangs. Content analysis was used as a technique of analysis and interpretation. Through content analysis it was found that kuduristas bring in their musical excerpts content that shows power and leadership, provocations, conflicts among gangs and delinquent or deviants’ behaviors, sometimes barely noticeable due to the language they use. We concluded that kuduro is a means of expression and youth identity; hence many of them use this musical style to blow off steam problems and draw attention of the State and social control institutions.
