TCHAD LA DÉCHÉANCE DES CHEFS TRADITIONNELS

Since the colonial administration, Chadian traditional chiefs are manipulated by political powers. The decline of Chadian traditional chiefs, which is the focus of this study, aims at analysing the decline of the role of traditional chiefs. The investigations have been carried out between Ndjamena, the capital city of Chad and Mandelia, the administrative centre where a well-known traditional power to Chadian people is found. The sampling is made of 65 people, among whom there are 25 traditional chiefs, 25 political and administrative heads, and 15 neutral people. The data revealed that the loss of the dignity of traditional chiefs is due to their involvement in political life, the non-respect of the criteria of their appointment, and the financial and material benefits connected to their function.
